The Computer and Freedom Federation (Federation Informatique et Libertés in fench) is a network of associations, NGO and individuals advocating privacy and freedom of expression.

This federation aims at :

-  advocating civil and individual rights and liberties
-  promoting the respect of communications’ privacy
-  fighting against all forms of privacy and freedom of movement reach, whom they result from the implementation of processings of personal datas, videosurveillance or any other process or method being able to generate such an attack
-  fighting against all forms of discriminations and defending consumers’ rights as these actions are in bond with its object
-  assisting victims of privacy reaches, illicit monitoring and/or violation of their rights
-  supporting the movements and actions of its members, in conformity with his object
-  promoting and defending the free use of all techniques dedicated to preserve the confidentiality and the anonymity of the exchanges, such as cryptography
-  publicizing the positions of the FIL to the authorities
-  informing and sensitizing every kind of people and organizations on the increased risks of attacks against privacy generated by the increasing use of new technologies of information and numeric technologies
-  defending the freedom of expression and the right to information
